PRESS RELEASE

STRETCH MARK

Ruby/Dakota is thrilled to present Stretch Mark, a concurrent duo exhibition with Nose Dive, hung in the Main Gallery, featuring works by Ellen Hanson and Erica Newton.

Cherry Blossom season, in all its painful ephemerality, is the shortest of the year,
and perhaps the most beautiful.

What is a birth if not a cosmic collaboration, a fleeting moment?
The air so ripe, we become allergic to life.

Organic matter floating to the earth’s surface,
raining down from The Heavens or at the very least the Brooklyn sky,
finding their way to Lycra
and plaster surfaces.

Baby.

Do you want to gouge a path unforged, or spread smooth like churned butter, over a landscape distorted by your own tension and time?

Soaking wet bathing suit In the dead of Summer Fireflies hovering at
The treeline

Scenes so sporadic, You make them up Entirely.

There is no existence without making a mark
